Evaluate what is so broken on offense

One of the biggest issues for the Heat this season is the inability to score consistently. Last season’s best 3-point shooting team now ranks near the bottom of the league. Strus, Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin and others have seen their shooting percentages slip, and signing Kevin Love during the All-Star break didn’t help enough.

Here are some of the current offensive statistics for the team as a whole:

  • Points per game: 30th
  • Offensive rating: 25th
  • Pace: 29th

Put simply: The Heat are awful on offense. Now, an elite defense has kept them in most games and allowed them to win more than they lose (but just barely).

This summer could be a big one of change. The supporting cast has let down Butler and Adebayo, and the front office needs to find players who can space the floor and turn this into, at least, an above-average unit.
