NBA Mock Draft: Ranking top 15 realistic prospects for the Miami Heat
3. Jordan Hawkins, G, UCONN
If the Miami Heat is looking for someone that could help replicate some of the things that a Duncan Robinson and Max Strus have done for the team over the last few seasons, in the event that the team ends up moving on from those two players this offseason, one way to replace them could be by drafting a prospect such as Jordan Hawkins.
Hawkins, whose draft stock has risen over the course of the NCAA Tournament, is an intriguing player that could come in and play a defined role for the Heat. Especially if they continue to have a clear need in that area. The big question is whether or not he’ll be able to play good enough man-to-man defense where he won’t get schemed off the floor.
However, there’s no question that Hawkins can shoot the basketball. During his sophomore season at UCONN, he averaged 16 points and four rebounds on 39 percent shooting from 3 on nearly eight attempts per contest. He closed his collegiate career by shooting 50 percent (21-42) from 3 during UCONN’s Tournament run toward a National Championship.
It’s easy to see why he’d be a great fit on the Heat.
