NBA Mock Draft: Ranking top 15 realistic prospects for the Miami Heat
10. Dariq Whitehead, F, Duke
If the Miami Heat wanted to roll the dice on a wing with potential, you can make the argument that Dariq Whitehead could emerge as a favorite for the team. Even more so if he ends up performing well during his pre-draft workouts. Whitehead had an uneven freshman campaign at Duke which was completely thrown off by an injury that he suffered just before the start of the season.
Still, Whitehead emerged as a key part of Duke’s late-season surge. Whitehead finished the season averaging eight points per game on 43 percent shooting from 3-point range. If nothing else, Whitehead proved that he can play stingy defense and that he can shoot the lights out of the basketball from deep.
That said, almost every other element of his game is considered to be raw at this point in his development. He seems like a great player to take a chance on if a team is willing to invest time in his development.
Then again, it didn’t exactly end all that well the last time the Heat took a shot on a 3-and-D wing with endless potential.
