The Playoff Round: 2012 Finals (Heat Win 4-1)

The Player & The Line: LeBron James, 28.6 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 7.4 APG, 1.6 SPG on 47-18-83 shooting splits. Named Finals MVP

The Context: LeBron’s Finals redemption should stand in the halls of Heat history. After his failure in 2011, LeBron rededicated himself towards playing closer to the rim (compare his FTA in the 2011 and 2012 Finals) and was given Wade’s blessing to be the undisputed number one option on the team (not that Wade was any slouch here, averaging 23-6-5 in the Finals himself) Averaging a near triple-double and out dueling Kevin Durant was no small feat, and what stuck out about LeBron’s Finals performance more than anything was his sterling consistency. James would score between 26 and 32 points in all five games and was (somewhat uncharacteristically) excellent at the foul line in games decided by thinner margins than most remember.
