Prior to the start of the NBA Finals, it was nearly assumed that if the Miami Heat won the NBA Finals that star Jimmy Butler would win the league’s Finals MVP award.

After two games, with the Heat evening the series at one game apiece on Sunday night, that is no longer a foregone conclusion.

Butler has struggled in the first two games of the series, shooting just 13-for-33 from the field and scoring 34 points in the first two games. He’s still the favorite amongst Heat players for Finals MVP, but Bam Adebayo (+650) and Gabe Vincent are both gaining ground.

Vincent has been great in this series, averaging 21.0 points per game while shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from beyond the arc. He’s also putting up four assists per game.

Butler may still be the favorite, but could a few more good games by Vincent, and Miami wins, give him a chance at winning the Finals MVP award?

Here’s a look at the latest odds:

Updated odds to win NBA Finals MVP

Gabe Vincent’s NBA Finals MVP odds surging

Depending on the sportsbook, Vincent is available at as long as +4500 to win the Finals MVP award.

He could be worth a sprinkle if Butler continues to struggle, especially since the Heat won Game 2 where he scored 23 points.

Right now, Adebayo may be the best player for Miami, scoring 26 and 21 points in the first two games of this series while totaling 22 rebounds and nine assists. However, he’s at a much shorter price than Vincent, who has put together a similar impact.

We’ve seen players that aren’t the team’s No. 1 star (Andre Iguodala in 2015, Kawhi Leonard in 2014) win this award before, although it is a rare occurrence.

I wouldn’t place a huge bet on Vincent, but he’s worth a look after playing so well early in this series, especially if one thinks the Heat handle business at home in Games 3 and 4.
