The Miami Heat are eager to chase another championship after losing in the NBA Finals twice in the last four years. Jimmy Butler will take his game to another level in the playoffs, and Bam Adebayo is one of the league’s best centers, but Pat Riley is always looking for another star.
Bradley Beal is available as the Washington Wizards want to rebuild. It is easy to forget that the soon-to-be 30-year-old averaged over 30 points per game for two full seasons and is a three-time All-Star. Beal has struggled to stay healthy in recent years, but there is no denying his talent.
Beal holds all the cards in the negotiations as he has a full no-trade clause. He will choose his next team and can control the price it pays for him. The Heat will be interested, but what will the package look like if they can pull it off?
Ranking trades that send Bradley Beal to Miami Heat
4. Tepid trade sees Heat give up too much for Bradley Beal
The maximum the Heat can offer right now is three first-round picks, and Tyler Herro is the most likely player to be traded because he is only 24 years old and has scored over 20 points per game in back-to-back seasons. The 6’5 guard won Sixth Man of the Year in 2022, and he could become an All-Star in the right situation.
This is not Miami’s max offer, but it is too much to give up for Beal after considering his age, contract, and no-trade clause.
Do the Wizards want Herro? Trading for the asset could be wise, but Washington has zero desire to contend if they are trading Beal. The Wizards will be looking to enter a total rebuild and bottom out for a few years.
The Heat should not give up two first-round picks for Beal either. There is no reason to do it. Miami has to focus on limiting the deal to one first-round pick and salary-matching players, so they have additional assets to upgrade their roster.
