Chris Duarte, Indiana Pacers
After an impressive rookie campaign, Chris Duarte had a second season to forget with the Indiana Pacers. Injuries robbed Duarte of what was supposed to be another step forward in his progression heading into 2022-23. In the end, Duarte averaged just eight points and three rebounds on 37 percent shooting from the field overall. He also averaged less than 20 minutes per game in the 46 contests he appeared in. Duarte’s struggles, coupled with a somewhat cluttered backcourt, could open the door for a trade this offseason.
Even more so if the Pacers end up taking a guard with one of their three first-round picks. One team that could look to take advantage is the Miami Heat. With a clear need in the backcourt (the Heat nearly ran out of playable guards with the injuries to Gabe Vincent, Victor Oladipo, and Tyler Herro in the playoffs), Miami could try to help Duarte get back to his rookie season form.
Duarte is a talented player that might need a change of scenery to get his career back on track. The Heat have a knack for putting players in the right position, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses. It could be a good match for both sides.
