Free agent targets for the Miami Heat after the 2023 NBA Draft

1. Oshae Brissett

Despite a more pressing need for a bona fide big man who can present a viable fit next to Bam Adebayo, Miami has favored a smaller approach in the frontcourt to compensate for the team’s dearth of shooting in the frontcourt. That projects to stay the same this offseason and for that reason, Oshae Brissett could be a realistic target for the minimum.

Brissett was an afterthought for the Indiana Pacers this season, but the 6-foot-7 tweener has a skill set that resonates well with the Heat’s modus in recent years — disruptive on defense (especially in help situations), pesky on the boards, can hit open 3s, and can play multiple positions.

While the Canadian is far from the sexiest name on this list, Miami can do much worse than pursue a player who should comfortably come cheap and has all the makings and stylings of a quintessential Heat role player. Alas, he’s been more than serviceable when given a meaningful role and is just 25 years old, giving a veteran team like the Heat some fresher legs who can provide them a lift in the regular season at least.
