Following the Miami Heat’s finals loss to the Denver Nuggets, the Heat enter an offseason full of questions. One of which includes if they will be able to resign Gabe Vincent. While Miami could try to find an improvement at point guard over Vincent. Taking that big of a risk after the role Vincent played in their finals run just seems silly.

In the playoffs, Vincent averaged 12.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 40.2% from the field and 37.8% from three on 6.1 attempts. While he still had some inconsistencies, Vincent was, for the most part, a huge reason the Heat made it as far as they did.

The Heat will likely do all they can to bring him back. However, don’t be surprised to see teams be interested in stealing Vincent away. Even Vincent himself didn’t deny that he was potentially interested in joining another team, stating the following;

"“Money plays a role, place plays a role, situation plays a role… There’s a lot of things that factor in and I think it will all take care of itself throughout the summer.”"

Here are three teams that could try and steal Gabe Vincent away from the Heat:

3. Minnesota Timberwolves

Depending on the course the Timberwolves take this offseason, they could look to add some depth at point guard behind Mike Conley. While they have had some players fill in over the years, adding Vincent would be a breath of fresh air for their bench. They may not have much more to offer than the MLE. However, the two teams can work together on a sign and trade if Vincent has his sight set on Minnesota.

The Timberwolves were an average three-point shooting team last season, ranking 13th in the league in three-point percentage. Vincent may not be an elite shooter in the regular season. However, considering the fact that Minnesota shot 34.8% from deep in the playoffs, they may want a playoff riser like Vincent on their roster.

Adding Vincent to a relatively weak Timberwolves bench would provide a massive spark the team needs. Whether it be his shooting, defense, or all-around hustle, Vincent is exactly the kind of player the Timberwolves could use.

Vincent likely wants more than the MLE, but Minnesota could potentially offer him a big-time role off the bench. Things would have to get crazy for this to happen, but we’ve seen wilder signings occur in previous offseasons.
