Victor Oladipo – Miami Heat

Over the past few years, Victor Oladipo has endured his share of unfortunate injuries. In the Heat’s playoff run this past season, Oladipo suffered a suffered torn patellar tendon in his left knee, and that obviously knocked him out of the lineup. The guard will miss a good chunk of time over the next year, so his free agency decision should not be too complicated.

Heading into the offseason, Oladipo has a player option worth $9.5 million. Considering that he’s going to miss significant time, he’ll likely accept that option, as he wouldn’t get nearly as much on the open market following this injury. It’s going to be a long road to recovery for Oladipo, but that does not mean his tenure with the Miami Heat is over.

In April, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Oladipo’s recovery timeline will be around six months. That’s great news and gives the guard a chance the return to the lineup next season. Yet, with surgeries, everything has to go right, including the recovery. Hopefully everything goes well for Oladipo over these next sixth months. If so, he could be a great mid-season addition to Miami’s rotation as they look to make it back to the NBA Finals.
