The clock is ticking toward the start of the 2023-24 NBA season. This summer may have been a rollercoaster of emotions for Miami Heat fans, but not much has happened in terms of change in the roster. From superstar guard Damian Lillard requesting a trade to Miami, to the uncertainty of the depth chart, there’s still some unfinished business for the Heat.

Despite Miami being unable to acquire Lillard’s services to this point, they need to prepare for another marathon season with the pieces they’re dealt. The NBA has officially released the Heat’s schedule, with rivalry matchups and the in-season tournament included. Miami’s had some battles throughout the years with teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics. Those games should be circled on the calendar in Miami’s next race for the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Here are the top five games Heat fans should be most excited for.

5. Oct. 25: Miami Heat vs. Detroit Pistons: Opening Night

Although it’s a game against the Detroit Pistons, many basketball fans will be tuned in for the Heat’s opening night game on Oct. 25. This is actually a great matchup for the Heat since they’ll be playing a team that’s looking to make a name for themselves with a couple of talented young studs. The Heat will start the season with an early wakeup call, playing such a young team that likes to run the floor.

Through the past few seasons, evidence has shown that games in the month of October don’t really carry much importance, but it’s vital for the Heat to set the tone early this year. They’ll be starting the season at home, but then 12 of their next 16 are on the road. A victory before that road-heavy stretch should be enough of a motivator.
