The Miami Heat are all-in on winning their fourth championship. They are pursuing Damian Lillard and looking for ways to upgrade their roster. The Heat have been in the NBA Finals two of the last four years, but need more talent to get over the hump. Pat Riley wants his tenth ring and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

It is no guarantee that Miami will land Lillard. The Blazers have been reluctant in talks, and the Heat do not have the biggest package to offer for the seven-time All-Star. Dame wants to be in Miami, but there is still plenty to sort out.

With or without Lillard, the Heat will have roster turnover in the next five years. Jimmy Butler will be 39 and cannot be their best player. How do they replace him? Can the Heat find another star and stay in contention? It won’t be easy but never count out Miami.

PG: Damian Lillard

If the Heat land Lillard, it is going to be for a massive haul. The 33-year-old has a player option in 2026, but he has been quick to extend during his time in Portland. Dame will be eager to earn all he can beforethe over-38 rule kicks in. He turns 38 during the 2028 offseason and will likely be locked in with whatever team acquires him now.

Dame will no longer be at the peak of his powers but expect him to be a solid starter who can play 30 minutes per game. The Heat won’t want to push him too hard and will need a strong sixth man to cover when Lillard needs a rest.

Having Damian Lillard in 2028 means the Miami Heat acquired him before February’s trade deadline. They would be instant title contenders and one of the league’s best teams over the next five years.
