3. Damian Lillard finally gets his wish

Surprise! Yes, trading for Damian Lillard would instantly make Miami an absolute powerhouse. He is the missing piece in the championship puzzle.

The Heat’s offense was league-worst in points per game in the regular season, and the point guard spot was alternated between Gabe Vincent and Kyle Lowry, but never taken by none of them. Lillard would solve both problems in one move.

Addressing perimeter game issues by bringing one of the best three-point shooters in NBA history in the peak of his career would do wonders for Miami. Doing that while having Butler and Adebayo to operate inside could take this team to a new level.

The haul of assets sent to Portland in this deal would put the Heat in an urgency to fill out some roster spots. Since the Nets are reportedly willing to help facilitate the trade and would have to make room for Herro’s salary, Miami could try to strengthen their defense acquiring Finney-Smith. If Brooklyn was willing to deal him and O’Neale, Martin’s possible exit would become much less painful as well.
