4. Ray Allen

Ray Allen wasn’t a Heat lifer, only playing 152 games for the franchise, but there was no way he was getting kept off this list. His accuracy, spacing, and historical moments were too much to ignore.

In his brief two seasons, Allen shot 39% on 4.2 attempts. His volume was lower than others on this list but the spacing he provided was immeasurable.

Allen was a part of the 2013 Miami Heat team that won a franchise record 66 games. They ran off an impressive 27 straight wins. Miami’s 3-point shooting and paint-finishing played a big role in their success. Miami ranked second in 3P% (39.6%) and first in shots less than 5ft (66.4)%.

Defenses could never help off of Allen from the 3-point line, giving LeBron James and Dwyane Wade open lanes to slice up defenses. He was an excellent mover that defenses constantly chased around.

His spacing was one thing, but the historical moment he provided was one that you have to explain to tell the story of the NBA.

With this miracle shot and possession, Allen saved the Heat’s season. This was arguably the most clutch shot in league history. His accuracy from downtown is only second to Steph Curry. He didn’t accomplish all of his impressive feats in a Heat jersey, but we don’t have three rings without Ray Allen.
