We checked in on Kel’el Ware’s stats a couple of days ago. Let’s turn our attention to the statistical profile of some other Miami Heat players with six stats.
- All-Star Tyler Herro has been one of the most productive offensive players in the league this season. A scan of the basic stats tells that story. But the advanced metrics also back up Herro’s ascension. According to Cleaning the Glass, Herro is scoring 122.8 points every 100 shot attempts (which includes field goal attempts and trips to the line). That ranks 10th among players who have logged at least 1,500 minutes this season.
- Andrew Wiggins is drawing a shooting foul on 17.5% of his shot attempts, per CtG. That’s a best-of-class mark that should excite the Heat about the best player they got back in the Jimmy Butler trade.
- The top three Heat players in usage rate: Herro (28.3%), Wiggins (25.7%) and Bam Adebayo (23.5%).
- Before Haywood Highsmith’s surprise 27 minutes in Wednesday night’s win, there were a lot of questions about Highsmith’s curious run of DNP-CDs (five of the previous six games). Highsmith remains one of Miami’s best perimeter defenders and is shooting 40% on 3s for the second straight season. However, the on/off stats don’t paint as pretty a picture. The Heat are being outscored by 1.5 points every 100 possessions with Highsmith on the court – the third-worst mark among Heat players who have logged at least 1,000 minutes, behind only Jaime Jaquez Jr. (minus-11.5) and Terry Rozier (minus-7.5). Another curious number: The Heat are giving up 1.2 points more on defense when Highsmith is on the court.
- Terry Rozier has been out of the rotation for the last two games as he struggles with his efficiency. Among players who are averaging at least 10 shot attempts per game, Rozier has the ninth-worst shooting percentage (40.4%) and seventh-lowest 3-point shooting percentage (30.6%). All of that for a player the Heat traded a first-round pick for.
- Prior to Wednesday night, Wiggins recorded multiple offensive rebounds in his last four games. That’s the longest streak of his season. He’s averaging 1.7 offensive rebounds in a Heat uniform, which would mark a career-high. If you remember, Wiggins helped swing the 2022 NBA Finals by averaging 2 offensive rebounds per game in that series.
