With the way Bam Adebayo has played this season, it's not really a shocker that the Miami Heat have gotten off to a 0-4 start.

He hasn't been the supporting star that Giannis Antetokounmpo needs if the Heat are going to be successful this year, and it's his struggles on the offensive end of the floor that have completely limited this team's efficiency.

Bam isn't necessarily the only reason for the Heat's bad start to the year, but his shooting struggles have not helped matters either. Despite his cold start to the year, though, he hasn't lost any confidence in himself or in the team.

Bam Adebayo isn't losing confidence just yet

In fact, after another depressing loss, Bam gave a stern warning to every Heat critic, hinting that he expects the same energy once he (and the Heat) are able to turn things around.

"My shot's not going in. I'm not going to overthink that. It's funny how the outside noise wants to make me the scapegoat. When the energy shifts, be prepared for that"

These are pretty strong comments for a player who is averaging less than 12 points per game on 17 percent shooting from 3-point range. A player who has also looked a step slower than usual on the defensive end, and one who has not made Giannis’ on-the-court transition as easy as many expected it would.

Still, I suppose you have to credit Bam for not letting his current struggles steal his confidence.

But I suppose that’s why he’s the captain. In theory, it would be so easy to feel defeated after the first four games. Even more so for Bam, considering the struggles for him stretch a lot further than the team's win-loss record. He’s not there yet. And that’s respectable.

At the same time, this is warning he’ll have to back up.

He’s writing a check that no Heat fan can have confidence that he’ll be able to cash. There’s certainly hope for it, especially considering the player he’s been for the majority of his career, but he’s just been so bad this season that it’s difficult to envision how his play is suddenly going to shift.

That doesn’t mean that it won’t happen, just that it’s hard to believe that it will. That’s just how bad everything has gone so far this season for Miami.

But again, it should count for something that Bam is still confident that things, or the energy, are about to shift for the Heat. And for the sake of fans, here’s to hoping Bam can break out of this recent slump sooner rather than later.
