The Miami Heat franchise has been a downright disaster over the last two seasons. Since the relationship with Jimmy Butler started to break down, the Heat have not been one of the best franchises in the league, from their on-the-court play to their decision-making in the front office.

And Dwyane Wade finally said that quiet part out loud, something that most Heat fans are afraid to come to terms with.

"It started when everything started going down with Jimmy and the Heat. We’ve been a disconnect organization since that point. We been a disgruntled organization the last few years.”

It's that last part that should sting Heat fans. But, at this point, it's hard to argue against it. The Heat has been a "disgruntled" franchise over the last couple of seasons.

Where it all fell apart for the Heat

I'd point to the moment after their magical run to the 2023 NBA Finals ended as where it all started falling apart for the Heat. After that run, the team began to lose important pieces of their core, while visibly seeing Jimmy begin to fall apart from a health standpoint.

Perhaps the punctuation for the Heat's downfall since then was their failed pursuit of Damian Lillard. During that summer, Lillard made it loud and clear that he wanted to be traded to the Heat. In a move that would've been viewed as perhaps a trade that could've put the Heat over the top, they weren't able to get it done.

And once that happened, it all of a sudden felt as if the magic was gone - from both the front office to inside the locker room.

The Jimmy era would officially end a year and a half later, but that's more than likely the moment when it all started to fall apart.

The Heat need a turning point

Since then, the Heat haven't been all that competitive, the decision-making in the front office has been questionable, and their overall aura surrounding this franchise has pretty much died.

If the organization isn't careful, this is the moment where things could get out of hand. For a franchise that was once considered among the best in the league, the Heat has a lot of ground to make up. And it has to start this offseason.

Miami can't afford to let another summer come and go without making real strides in its pursuit back to a standard of excellence. It just can't happen. That's why so much is riding on this offseason for the Heat.

And maybe now that Wade has continued to call out the Heat, perhaps it will give them even more urgency to right the ship. Fans are sure hoping that will be the case.
