Dwyane Wade couldn't be more right when he says that the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo need to figure out what they want, whether that be as a collective or individual entities.
It's certainly one thing that everyone seems to be thinking about in this entire situation, including the Miami Heat.
As Wade puts it, the Bucks and Giannis "need to pick a direction." They need to either "break up or stay together." Considering this is a saga that has been building for two years now, Giannis, more specifically, needs to be clear on what he wants for his future.
Giannis needs to get selfish for once
Even though the Heat are hoping for one outcome, it would almost certainly be in their best interest to have some clarity on all of this.
The Heat is hoping that Giannis eventually demands a trade, preferably to the Heat. However, even if Giannis were to stay firmly that he wants to play the rest of his career in Milwaukee, it will help Miami's front office move on, instead of holding out for even the mere chance at making a run at Giannis.
I'm sure the fans in Milwaukee would also appreciate it, no matter what the two sides end up deciding.
This "will he or won't he" game has to be tiring for not just the fans, but also the players in the locker room. No matter how much Giannis wants to downplay it, this is a pretty big elephant in the room. And there's no more evidence of that than the fact that Giannis is asked about his desire to be in Milwaukee at nearly every media availability.
And, sure, Giannis has attempted to say all the right things when he has a microphone in front of him, but the rumor mill continues to churn about the mystery of his future.
In many ways, Wade just said what many across the league is thinking - including Heat fans.
Everyone wants to see some sort of clarity when it comes to Giannis and the Bucks. Unfortunately, the odds are that we're probably not going to see any until after this season - unless the wheels of the Bucks' season completely fall off between now and the NBA Trade Deadline.
In all likelihood, though, there isn't expected to be much resolution between Giannis and the Bucks anytime soon. No matter what Wade or fans across the league desire, the Giannis saga could still be in its early stages.
