If NBA insider Jake Fischer is right, the Miami Heat are going to have a very, very good chance at landing Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer.

In a latest report, Fischer continued to stoke the flames of the Giannis to the Heat movement. This time, saying that the Heat loom “very, very strongly and prominently” in the upcoming expected race for Giannis.

The best part of this was that it was completely unexpected. Speaking on Kevin Durant's future, Fischer mentioned the Heat as a potential next stepping stone for the superstar forward. But then accurately noted how KD won't jump in front of Giannis on the Heat's wishlist this summer.

Giannis can save the Heat

In saying that the Heat will be "strong" and "prominent" in the pursuit of Giannis, Fischer was speaking to more of what Miami will have available to trade rather than actual insider information, but it certainly continues to give the Heat some much-needed momentum heading into the offseason.

And the Heat fan base could surely use it.

Compared to what the Heat had at their disposal during the offseason, Miami is certainly going to have more trade capital to use in an attempt to entice both the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis to come to the table.

That won't guarantee that the Heat will be able to outbid other suitors, but it does seem as if the front office is somewhat confident in their ability.

I don't think they would be sitting on their hands if they weren't.

The end goal is that a Giannis acquisition is enough to "save" the Heat from serial mediocrity, a place that the team has come too close for their own comfort.

Giannis is just the first step for a total retooling of the roster

Landing Giannis (or any other star, for that matter) would theoretically be just the first step of the Heat completely retooling the roster this summer. To suggest that the Heat are just one star acquisition away would be quite foolish. Especially when watching the level at which the likes of the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder

But, in many ways, the Heat needs to acquire a star first before they can make other big moves.

As the last few years have proven, that's a lot easier said than done. From the current vantage point, though, the Heat does seem to be somewhat confident in their standing heading into the summer.

That doesn't guarantee anything, but if whispers (like this one from Fischer) continue to circulate, there's a very real chance the Heat's roster will look a lot different in October than it does right now.

And it just might include Giannis.
