The Miami Heat need to get a trade for Ja Morant done. Because there's no knowing when they're going to get another golden opportunity as they do right now.

As the smoke surrounding a potential Morant trade to Miami continues to grow, it's important that the Heat realizes just how rare this moment and opportunity is. It's not every day that a star player at the age of 26 hits the trade block.

Add in the fact that Morant's trade block is at an all-time low, and it gets even more obvious that this is one of those opportunities that Miami can't afford to blow. Of course, this is all under the assumption that they're interested.

The Heat need to close the deal on Ja Morant

But from everything that has been reported recently, both Morant and the Heat seemingly have interest in each other. If that is indeed the case, the Heat need to close the deal this time around. They can't let this opportunity pass them by.

Even if this is a move that ends up blowing up in their face, this is a risk that the Heat can take and survive. Miami is not going to have to include premium assets to get a deal done for Morant. They won't have to gut their roster to significantly raise their ceiling for this season.

With all of that understood, I'm not sure how or why the Heat wouldn't want to take such a gamble right now. Especially how mediocre the Heat has looked for the majority of this year.

It's also rare for a team to get the opportunity to significantly raise its ceiling in-season the way Morant can do so if acquired. That's the type of impact Morant can have on the Heat.

With the way he's been playing thus far, that's far from a foregone conclusion. However, the Heat have routinely taken the talent now and worried about everything else later. Why should that be any different in this situation?

It's time for the Heat to shake things up

What if all Morant needs is a change of scenery? Maybe Morant thrives and gets a career awakening in Miami. If that were to happen, the perception around the Heat would change on a dime. So would their ceiling.

But in order to even get to that point, the Heat have to pull the trigger.

No more low-balling. No more doing the bare minimum. The Heat need to get it done.

Line up the expiring contracts and throw in the one young asset they're probably looking for. It doesn't have to be the best one, just an offer that will get a deal done.

The Heat has struck out before with these types of circumstances in front of them. They can't afford to do so now. Not this time. Miami needs to close the deal. They need to get Morant in a Heat uniform.

It's on a silver platter for them.
