Is Kel'el Ware a foundational piece of the future for the Miami Heat? What seemed to be answered over the course of this season will certainly be tested once again this offseason.

As the Heat head into an offseason with much uncertainty, and with a strong desire to trade for a star player, Ware is both an exciting piece of the future and also one of the best trade assets in their back pocket.

The question that will be answered, for better or worse, this summer revolves around how valuable Ware is indeed to this franchise.

How much do the Heat value Kel'el Ware?

Is Ware at the point where he's completely untouchable as an asset? Is he untouchable for any player except for Giannis Antetokounmpo? Would they be willing to include Ware in a potential offer for Kawhi Leonard? Because of their desperation for change, does that make Ware not untouchable at all?

Ware is clearly one of the most talented young players on the Heat roster, but to what end does this front office actually believe that?

Interestingly enough, we're not just going to see how much this front office values Ware this summer, but we're also going to find out just how much it believes in this young core.

Because if the Heat are willing to send it away from the next flashy star that becomes available, that will not just tell us all we need to know about Ware, but also about this young core.

How desperate are the Heat to jump-start their retooling?

At its core, the Heat must determine just how desperate they are to jump-start their retooling of the roster. Because if they're not, the Heat won't be willy-nilly with Ware when it comes to trade discussions.

It'd be understandable for the Heat to offer Ware in a deal for Giannis, but aside from him, I can't imagine it would make much sense for Miami to trade the young big man.

Unless, of course, the Heat are in a much more desperate place than previously believed. And, honestly, they might be.

With how this season ended, it's difficult for the fan base to find many positives to take away from the year that was. If anything, Ware is probably pretty high on that short list.

For the Heat to just turn around and trade him this summer would be quite telling.

The Heat's offseason will reveal plenty

Miami certainly has some big questions to answer about its future, and Ware likely is near the top of those uncertainties.

Last summer, the Heat refused to include Ware in any trade offers for Kevin Durant. Will we see a repeat of that this summer? Or will the front office elect to cash in one of the best young assets on their roster for the chance to finally land their next star player?

One way or another, this season will be quite telling for how the Heat truly feels about Ware (and the rest of this young core).
