At this point, it's anyone's guess how the Miami Heat are going to operate when the free-agency window opens. However, if they're looking to take a gamble on a low-risk, high-reward veteran, a great option may have just hit the open market. Jordan Clarkson is a player who could hold value to a playoff-contending team like the Heat, if they're looking to add to their backcourt.

Again, it's almost impossible to predict what the Heat will prioritize heading into the remainder of the offseason, but it wouldn't be all that surprising if Clarkson did emerge as a potential option. Especially if the asking price isn't high, the Heat could look to replace a player like Terry Rozier with Clarkson.

If there's one thing that has become abundantly clear for the Heat, it's that they're not going to completely tear down their roster. That's not the way they conduct business, and it would be surprising if they suddenly shifted courses.

Jordan Clarkson could be the Terry Rozier replacement the Heat needs

Clarkson is a better player than Rozier, and I can't imagine Miami could genuinely give the latter consistent minutes this season. Clarkson could emerge as a potential way around that issue for the Heat.

Even though Clarkson is no longer in the prime of his career, there's reason to believe that he can still be an effective player at this point in his career. Clarkson averaged 16 points and four assists per game on 36 percent shooting from 3-point range last season.

If Clarkson joins a playoff-contending team, perhaps one like the Heat, the hope is that he can be rejuvenated at this late stage of his career.

There's probably a much deeper debate about whether or not the Heat should be pursuing win-now moves in free agency, but it does seem as if this is a realistic scenario if Miami is looking to add another veteran to the backcourt.

It remains to be seen if Clarkson would view Miami as an appealing landing spot, but it's certainly one possibility to keep a close eye on before the start of free agency.
