The Miami Heat’s longstanding interest in a LeBron James reunion has been well documented this summer. However, even if he were to sign with the Heat – which could be the case, based on a recent live stream slip-up – the announcement may be delayed. According to Andy Baskin of Baskin & Phelps 92.3 The Fan, James was ready to announce his decision, but Adam Silver prodding him to do so made him wait.
While discussing the upcoming NBA schedule release, Silver noted that the league was waiting for James’ decision to decide things, as his team would obviously be put in more prominent, primetime games. Apparently, James wasn’t thrilled with this type of pressure, and his decision may have been delayed because of it.
Right now, the Heat are one of the frontrunners to sign James, but even if he has already decided to return to South Beach, his beef with Silver has delayed the return party.

The Heat have already been extremely active this summer. Their roster is going to look completely different heading into next season, and it’s for the better.
Obviously, Miami’s biggest move of the summer has already been made. Even if James does decide to sign with the Heat, their trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo was bigger, mostly because without it, James probably wouldn’t even be considering the Heat.
Miami shipped out Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, one first-round pick swap, and a second-round pick to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Antetokounmpo.
Now, the Heat are anxiously awaiting the possibility of James joining Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in Miami for the upcoming season. He would help them form one of the best Big 3s in the NBA.
That said, maybe they could have gotten the announcement a week ago. Two weeks ago, even. Based on this recent report, James was ready to reveal his next team.
Even if he decided to go somewhere other than the Heat, Miami could have moved on to exploring other options by now. But instead, the James saga has dragged on.
And it seems as though the reason for that is his new beef with Silver. Apparently, he wasn’t happy about being pressured into making a decision he clearly wants to make on his own terms.
So now, the Heat will have to wait even longer to see if they’re going to land James this summer.
