If Giannis Antetokounmpo truly wants to be traded to the Miami Heat, that will happen before the NBA Trade Deadline. But there's a revelation that the Heat may be learning that fans may not be ready or willing to accept, and it's the idea that he may not be pushing for a trade now for a reason.

And it might be because the team who he truly wants to be traded to isn't in the current bidding war.

With the way the recent reporting is trending, all it might take for Giannis to be traded to the Heat before the deadline is a conversation between him and ownership. Right now, Giannis has not pressured them at all to trade him.

Reading between the Giannis tea leaves

That may indicate that while Giannis may welcome a trade to the Heat, he's not pushing for it because it wouldn't be the end of the world if he weren't moved there. Perhaps because he knows the place he truly wants to be could be waiting for him in the offseason.

Previous reporting has suggested that the New York Knicks are the place that Giannis wants to be. But up to now, the Knicks never felt pressured to pull the trigger on a move for him - and that includes a period in the summer in which New York was given the opportunity to trade for him.

For whatever reason, New York hasn't been all that interested in Giannis.

Maybe because the Knicks didn't feel it was the right time. However, things could change during the offseason, especially if New York has a disappointing end to their postseason.

Could that be what Giannis is truly waiting for?

Or maybe it's the Los Angeles Lakers, who could reportedly be a real player for Giannis during the summer. There could be a real desire to play in Los Angeles alongside Luka Doncic.

Either way, the longer Giannis refuses to push the issue, the more it seems that he's perfectly happy with remaining on the Bucks until the offseason in an attempt to see where the trade landscape falls in a few months.

And, to be quite honest, if Giannis is perfectly fine in waiting, so would the Bucks.

The more these details begin to trickle out, the more it seems that there just may not be much interest - or urgency - for a Giannis trade now. And maybe that's because that's exactly how Giannis wants it to be for the moment.

This honest truth for the Heat is slowly becoming abundantly clear, and it's that Giannis may not be all that enamored with being traded to Miami (right now) if there's a chance at better landing spots in the summer.
