The Miami Heat are one of the few teams in league history that have had deep postseason success via the Play-In Tournament. With the way the bracket lies for the Heat, they may be in a perfect position to go on another magical run.

If the Heat's path to the 8th seed goes through the Charlotte Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers, they could be set up for an intriguing first-round playoff matchup against the top-seeded Detroit Pistons.

The Heat went a combined 5-2 against the Hornets and 76ers this season, and played the Pistons tough, beating them in two of their three meetings this year. Miami certainly has some real consistency issues, but if they can get hot, it wouldn't be that surprising to see them shake up the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The vibes around the Heat may be at an all-time low

In the eyes of their respective fan base, the Heat have easily been one of the most disappointing teams in the league. However, they have one more shot to change that narrative, even if it is only slightly.

The ideal path may be right in front of them. If there's one thing that the Heat have working in their favor, compared to the likes of the Hornets, 76ers, and perhaps even the Pistons, it's experience and an elite coaching staff.

Sure, Erik Spoelstra has had his struggles this year, but in a seven-game series, that's generally when we see the best out of him. And, again, while the Heat may not have the elite talent to compete for a championship this season, they are an experienced bunch.

The Heat can never be counted out in a postseason series

Whether that is enough to carry the Heat first, into the playoffs, and then second, to a competitive first-round series against the Pistons remains to be seen. But if there's one thing that has become clear over the last few years, it's that the Heat can never be counted out in a postseason series - even when they may be considered huge underdogs.

Miami is going to be considered the underdog against the Hornets and then again in their second Play-In Tournament game (if they make it that far). They'll be huge dogs against the Pistons in a first-round playoff series, too.

However, if the Heat wanted to come up with the perfect path toward making any type of noise in the postseason, it's probably exactly the lane that has formed right in front of them.

That doesn't guarantee anything, but it does open the door for the Heat to create some unexpected playoff chaos in the Eastern Conference.
