There may not be a team more desperate in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes than the Miami Heat. They clearly need a superstar, and they've made Giannis undoubtedly their No. 1 priority heading into the summer.
That still doesn't guarantee anything.
But while there is going to be a collection of suitors that join the Heat on this pursuit, Miami may feel comfortable about where they stack up. And now that possible trade packages that the Heat might be offering for Giannis are slowly beginning to leak, you can't help but wonder what that could mean for their chances.
The rumored offer the Heat have made for Giannis
Most recently, NBA writer Gery Woelfel noted that there have been rumblings of what the Heat may be currently offering the Bucks. It's an offer centered around Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and three first-round picks (including the rights to the 13th overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft).
To make this deal legal, the Heat would likely have to include another portion of salary, but this is the heart of what might be on the table at the moment.
If you're a Heat fan, this gives you a pretty good look at what could end up being the final deal if this trade is going to get done. If you're a Bucks fan, it gives you a sneak peek of what could be their new reality if Giannis is indeed going to be traded.
On the surface, it's probably a respectable deal all around. And, honestly, it may be as close to the best deal that the Bucks may end up getting.
Is this a fair deal for both sides?
Ultimately, that's the big question. Is this the best deal that the Bucks could theoretically get for Giannis?
In theory, the Heat's offer is not terrible. The Bucks would get three draft picks, and perhaps even some pick swaps, and two intriguing young players with Ware and Jaquez Jr. Perhaps another like Kasparas Jakucionis or Pelle Larsson if they really push for another piece.
At that point, they could make a future decision on Herro later. Whether that's keeping him and signing him to an extension, or flipping him for another draft pick or asset in the future, Milwaukee will have some options.
And that's what this offer from the Heat gives them. Options.
It's not the best return that you're going to see in a superstar exchange, but considering his injury history, his age, and contract, this might be the best they'll see.
Which should be the deciding factor for the Bucks. If they genuinely are ready to hit the reset button and they know they need to trade Giannis, this offer isn't all bad. It may not fall in the bucket of a great return, but without knowing what the other offers might be, it's difficult to completely shrug this off.
If the Heat end up winning the Giannis sweepstakes, this is the type of swap they should expect. And, honestly, this shouldn't be too much to swallow for the Heat.
