The Miami Heat's inability to find a third team to ship Tyler Herro off to could end up costing them Giannis Antetokounmpo.

With how the reporting has shifted of late, it's looking more and more as if the Heat's grand Tyler Herro miscalculation could end up costing them one more time, and in a very big way. That's because if the Heat are going to seal the deal on a trade for Giannis, it could very well hinge on their ability to find a team that is willing to absorb Herro in a deal.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Heat are "looking for other teams to get involved to complete a Giannis trade."

The Bucks don't want Tyler Herro?

The translations here are that the Bucks have probably asked the Heat to reel in a third or fourth team that is willing to take Herro. Milwaukee probably doesn't want to be on the hook to give him the extension that he's likely going to be seeking, and would just rather have another young player or another draft pick.

In theory, the Bucks could just take Herro and work to trade him at the 2027 NBA Trade Deadline, but they just don't want that added pressure. And that's completely understandable.

So now the Heat are left scrambling, trying to do the dirty work that Milwaukee, quite frankly, shouldn't be expected to do. And, especially if the Heat can't make it happen, Miami has no one but themselves to blame.

The Heat missed the sweet spot to trade Herro when his value was at a high last offseason, coming off an All-Star appearance. And they may be running into a problem they completely created and put on themselves.

Had they traded Herro last offseason, there's a chance that the Giannis trade is already done. But, because they didn't, and they have to deal with this now, there's at least an outside chance that Herro ends up dooming the Heat's chances of landing Giannis.

The front office might be able to get creative enough to figure something out, and maybe there is a bigger market for Herro than most believe, but there's no question that they certainly made life a lot more difficult for themselves because of this Herro miscalculation.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, and Miami may still be considered a favorite, but you can bet that the front office is frantically working to ensure that their mishandling of Herro doesn't end up costing them Giannis.

If so, that'd be one last gut punch that would be difficult for this front office to recover from.
