With the start of NBA Free Agency hours away, there are already whispers about who the Miami Heat may end up targeting. As Norman Powell looks like he's ready to walk away, there have been some rumored possible replacements for the Heat.

One of the more likely possibilities for Miami could leave many fans unsatisfied. According to multiple reports, Bradley Beal is one name that has been linked to Miami as a possible Powell replacement.

Make no mistake; on paper, this is an understandable gamble for the Heat. However, this isn't necessarily the replacement that fans were hoping to hear under the expectation that Powell is out the door.

Bradley Beal is not the free-agency prize he once was

Signing Beal would've been an excellent move five years ago. However, especially over the last two years, Beal is just not the player that he once was. Largely because of injury, Beal is much more of a name than a player at this point in his career.

Last season, Beal only appeared in six games for the LA Clippers, and he has not played in more than 60 games in a regular season since the 2020-21 campaign. In theory, the idea of taking a flier on Beal is worth the risk at this point for Miami, especially if he's willing to play for the veteran's minimum.

But there's no question that this is going to leave the fans wanting more.

What other moves could the Heat make in free agency?

It's difficult to suggest one way or another what other moves the Heat could end up making in free agency, but one thing is clear: it's going to be hard, either way, for Miami to make another big splash after landing Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The team has less than $20 million to spend on roughly five roster spots after the Andrew Wiggins opt-in earlier this week. What does that mean? Well, it's quite simple. When it comes to the Heat in free agency, fans should expect a lot of veteran minimum deals.

Technically speaking, even after Wiggins' opt-in, the Heat does have $12 million of the possible $15 million of their mid-level exception to spend, but there's no guarantee Miami will burn that. If the right player does come around, the Heat should absolutely make such a move.

However, I do find it difficult to believe that the Heat would burn that money just for the sake of using it.

It's certainly one thing to keep in mind as free agency opens. For the Heat, there are so many layers to these next few days. Make no mistake; despite all that, Beal is certainly one name to keep a close eye on.
