In FanSided's latest 2026 NBA Mock Draft, Yaxel Lendeborg falls to the Miami Heat at No. 13, who would be an ideal plug-and-play addition. If the Heat doesn't end up trading this pick, Lendeborg would be exactly what the Heat is looking for with this selection.
Short of the Heat using this pick to cement their path toward a star player, Miami would like a player who could contribute right away - and likely one who could make an impact on both ends of the floor. From a strictly plug-and-play standpoint, there may not be a better option in that late lottery range than Lendeborg.
Yaxel Lendeborg's rise should have him on the Heat's radar
Coming off a fantastic run with the Michigan Wolverines this past season, Lendeborg is one of the most NBA-ready prospects in this draft class and one whose multi-dimensional skill set falls right in line with what the Heat values in young players.
During his junior season in college, after transferring from UAB to Michigan, Lendeborg averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on 52 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent shooting from 3-point range.
What has helped Lendeborg quickly rise up draft boards over the last few months is his impressive run in the NCAA Tournament. Even while missing the majority of the Wolverines' Final Four win over Arizona because of injury, Lendeborg still managed to average 18 points and six rebounds on 55 percent shooting from the field and 47 percent shooting from 3-point range.
What's most impressive is that Lendeborg was able to play his best (and most efficient) offensive basketball of the year, when it mattered most, while also being a menace on the other end of the floor.
Lendeborg's potential fit on the Heat
At 6-foot-9, Lendeborg has the type of two-way versatility that would fit right in with Heat Culture. His high-end motor and natural athleticism make him an easy gamble for the Heat to take, if he's available at No. 13.
Depending on how this offseason plays out for the Heat, there's a reason to believe that help on the wing will be a necessity for Miami. For example, even if the Heat doesn't acquire a star player, there's a chance they could still part ways with Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, and/or Andrew Wiggins.
In that event, having the luxury of bringing in a ready-to-play piece like Lendeborg could be a game-changer heading into next season.
And the way this mock draft fell, there are many within the Heat's front office that would be jumping for joy.
