It’s not all bad. Yes, the Miami Heat did blow a 19-point lead to the New York Knicks and squander a chance at a statement win on Sunday, but a win Monday night against the lowly Washington Wizards would give the Heat their third win in four games. That’s the goal.
Let’s be clear: The Heat should win this game, and they win it easily despite the fact that they are playing on the second night of a back-to-back.
Here’s what to know for Monday night’s tilt.
How to watch Heat vs Wizards
Time: 7:30 pm ET
Location: Kaseya Center, Miami
TV: FanDuel Sports Network
Stream: NBA League Pass, Fubo
Notable injuries
The Heat will be without Kel’el Ware after Ware sprained his knee in Sunday’s loss. Coach Erik Spoelstra said after the game that Ware should be fine. Miami’s next game is Wednesday in Cleveland.
Davion Mitchell is questionable with a left quad contusion.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. (ankle) is doubtful and Andrew Wiggins (ankle) is questionable. Nikola Jovic (broken hand) remains out. Josh Christopher, Keshad Johnson and Isaiah Stevens are away from the team on G League assignment.
The Wizards will be without Jordan Poole (elbow), Saddiq Bey (knee) and Malcolm Brogdon (ankle).
Key matchup
Alex Sarr, the second pick in June’s draft, has improved as the season has gone on. He’s averaging 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1 block over his last 10 games. He’s also making 2.7 3-pointers per game in that span, so Sarr pulling Miami’s centers away from the basket is something to watch for.
Betting
The Heat are 8.5-point favorites in Miami.
