Heat will finally grant Bam Adebayo's longtime wish with one bold move

The Miami Heat could prove how much Bam Adebayo means to them with one simple move. It would be a bold decision that revolves around going all-in on Trae Young or Ja Morant over the course of the next 12 months. In many ways, it would be a huge answer to what Bam has long awaited throughout his young career.

Since breaking into a starting role for the Heat, Bam has not had the luxury of playing alongside a playmaking guard as talented as Young and Morant are. Bam has had to learn to get by with good, but not great, playmakers in the backcourt, often needing to step up in his own right as a primary ball-handler.

But as the Heat scours the market for their next star target, they could solve two of their big issues with one bold move. Trading for a playmaking superstar like Young or Morant would help accomplish two things.

First, either player would help fill the team's need for a star player. Secondly, adding either guard would help take significant pressure off Bam's shoulders and, for the first time in his career, allow him to play off a great playmaker.

The Heat may be limiting Bam's greatness

Even though Bam's been a great foundational piece for the Heat over the last few years, you can't help but wonder if the team may be holding him back with their refusal to surround him with better playmaking talent.

This is not a knock on Tyler Herro or even Davion Mitchell, but their strengths are not playmaking. They are good players that certainly bring other valuable skill sets to the table, but perhaps the reason Bam hasn't been able to take that final leap in his development is because he isn't being set up properly by a playmaking guard.

It's certainly something that should be at the back of the Heat's minds. And maybe, all of a sudden, there may be a chance for the Heat to address those concerns.

The Heat's path to Young or Morant may not be that far-fetched

Theoretically speaking, it's not that outlandish to think that Young and/or Morant could be on the trade block soon.

Young and the Atlanta Hawks don't appear to be headed toward a contract extension this summer, and if things do go south over the next few months, it wouldn't be surprising if there was a serious conversation about both of their futures.

Maybe that leads to a trade sooner rather than later?

Morant is a player whose future could also be up in the air, especially if the Memphis Grizzlies end up disappointing once again this season. After the bold move to trade Desmond Bane earlier this offseason, who knows what may be taking place behind the scenes in that front office?

Maybe the Heat can cobble together an offer that Atlanta or Memphis wouldn't be able to refuse?

If they can pull it off, landing a star point guard would not only make Bam a happy player, but it could also be the one variable that could unlock his and the team's higher ceiling moving forward.
