The Miami Heat are set to get a second shot at Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason. But after whiffing on a pursuit for him at this past year's NBA Trade Deadline, and considering the level of bidding war that could break out this summer, there may not be much hope in their chances to land the superstar forward.

But his latest comments in this elongated saga may certainly leave Heat fans believing in the pipe dream again.

“You know who you are dealing with,” Antetokounmpo said. “So for somebody to come and tell me to not play or not to compete, it’s like a slap in my face. So, I don’t know where the relationship goes from there.”

The NBA is investigating the Bucks' handling of Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis, speaking to the fact that he was essentially shut down for the season without his consent, is pretty mad about the entire issue. Clearly, he felt healthy enough to play down the stretch. The Bucks, on the other hand, felt different - or had ulterior motives.

Either way, it's clear that it's something that the two sides don't see eye-to-eye about. And the NBA is stepping in to investigate it all.

Even if the NBA's investigation doesn't find any wrongdoing, the real story is what this development does for the Giannis and Bucks relationship.

The Heat is hoping the Giannis-Bucks relationship has hit a boiling point

While many will look at this and think it's more much ado about nothing than an actual story, it's just another seed of malcontent that could be planted in Giannis. For the Heat, and perhaps a few other suitors across the league, the hope is that, eventually, one of these seeds will blossom.

Heading into the offseason, the Heat is hoping that Giannis finally pushes for a trade and, preferably, in a way that would boost their chances.

For now, Giannis has been unwilling to do that. However, this next twist in this saga could be the tipping point. Giannis has clearly had some frustration with the Bucks, mostly around their mediocrity as a franchise over the last couple of seasons.

Now, there could be much more to that.

At some point, it just might be time for a change. And, objectively, we're at the point where change may be best for both Giannis and the Bucks.

The question is, does Giannis and Milwlaukee believe that?

If this is the moment that shifts everything about their future, the Heat could be one of the teams waiting in the wings this summer. Because of all this uncertainty and the endless "what if" scenarios, Heat fans can't help but keep the Giannis dream alive.

And it's developments like this that will have Heat fans believing again.
