Seemingly good news on the Kel’el Ware injury front.

Ware, who missed the Miami Heat’s game against the Washington Wizards on Monday night with a left knee sprain, isn’t expected to be sidelined for an extended period.

According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, Ware underwent an MRI that showed no structural damage. Ware told the Herald that the injury is “not serious” and he “doesn’t expect [a] long absence.”

The Heat, with just nine players available, started Kevin Love in Ware’s place on Monday night and played Kyle Anderson as a backup center.

Ware’s inclusion in the starting lineup has allowed Bam Adebayo to play his more natural power forward position, where he’s thrived as a scorer and defender after beginning the season in a shooting slump.

Ware is averaging 8.7 points on 54.8% shooting, 6.4 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 20.3 minutes in 44 games (18 starts) this season.
