The Miami Heat are suspending Jimmy Butler indefinitely, according to multiple reports.
Butler walked out of Heat shootaround on Monday morning after being informed that he would not be starting, leading to this latest suspension. According to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson, Butler angrily left shootaround early after being told of coach Erik Spoelstra's decision.
Butler has already been suspended two separate times for a combined nine games this month after issuing his trade request on Jan. 2. The Heat cited “conduct detrimental to the team” for both suspensions, the first for seven games, the second for two games.
Butler was set to return from his second suspension for Monday night’s game against the Orlando Magic at Kaseya Center.
The Heat plan to start Haywood Highsmith in place of Butler moving forward.
The Heat play five games between Monday night and the Feb. 6 trade deadline, and are actively trying to trade Butler before then.
