Should Miami make the move?

While Lopez can help the Heat out both financially and offensively, the Heat should focus on finding a better role player in his prime or someone ascending at a young age. Even though there were instances where the Heat played drop coverage with Adebayo on the court, the Heat are at their best when they can switch everything with Adebayo at the five with good wing defenders around him.

If teams get hot from beyond the arc, it would be hard to play Lopez big minutes given his inability to play high on screens. And in an era where the three ball is shot at such a high rate, contesting shots around the perimeter is vital.

With the salary Lopez is at, even if a larger expiring contract has it's benefits, the Heat need to look at players that can have an impact late in games consistently if they plan on moving off bigger contracts in the offseason.
