Expendable: Duncan Robinson
Duncan Robinson’s contract has not fared well for the Miami Heat. Despite his improvement over the past season, he has not come close to fulfilling the monetary value his contract holds. The former Michigan guard is under a 5 year, $90 million contract.
Robinson is a great offensive threat to have on the court, due to the spacing he provides which stems from his ability to knock down the three-point shot, basically from wherever he wants. After a rough 2022-2023 season, Robinson stepped it up during the iconic 2023 playoff run. He shot 44.2% from downtown and carried it over into the ‘23-’24 season. Robinson is coming off of a season where he averaged just under 13 PPG while shooting 39.5% from the three-pointer, and 45% from the field.
Although Robinson has shown to be a good fit in a Heat uniform, he would be a great asset to include in a trade for a better player. Unloading his contract would also free up cap space. In my opinion, the Heat could get a better player or a player that provides similar contributions on the court, with a less daunting contract.
