The Miami Heat were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA last season, but there are a few other stats that show reason for optimism next season.

2. Offense

Being a top-five team in defensive efficiency is what kept the Heat competitive in the playoff race. Offensively, it was far from pretty, as Miami ranked in the bottom 10 in ORTG. That is an area that needs to improve if they want to return to contending status.

However, there is reason for optimism in that department. The Heat will get a full season of a healthy Rozier, who should add a more consistent boost to the offense as a talented scorer in the backcourt. He had a five-game stretch last season where the veteran point guard averaged nearly 30 points.

Herro should be healthier than last season, when the five-year scoring guard played a career-low 42 games. The same can be said for Duncan Robinson, who displayed plenty of offensive development in his game prior to suffering a back injury. Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic will be looking to earn more offensive responsibility.

Bam Adebayo has also been working on an efficient 3-point shot to add to his arsenal and could be due for the best offensive season of his career following his Team USA stint.
