The Miami Heat will be looking at many options this off-season to improve the team around Bam Adebayo, who never gets the credit he deserves for what he does on both ends of the floor. Miami will need to add talent in multiple ways. One way is through free agency.
Here are three free agents with ties to Adebyao that would help the team.
1. Derrick Jones Jr
Former Miami Heat player Derrick Jones Jr. and Bam Adebayo are very close and there's no doubt that Jones would be welcomed back to Miami. The Heat are going to need wings this offseason with Caleb Martin and Haywood Highsmith entering free agency.
Since leaving Miami, Jones has had a couple of stops on the way but has been an importance part of the Dallas Mavericks' run to the Finals. Jones, entering free agency himself, will have a lot of options to choose from.
A reunion with Miami wouldn't be the worst thing for Jones. Getting Jones back would be suitable for all parties. Adebyao would be getting a good friend on the team and, more importantly, a wing to play with him. Jones is a streaky shooter from three but has been more consistent this year and is still the high-flying athlete Heat fans remember. The only problem is that, after a strong season, he'll likely be out of Miami's price range unless he's willing to accept another minimum contract.
