Durability

The Heat made a run to the NBA Finals in 2023, but it wasn’t because of Herro, who missed nearly the entire postseason. He played 67 games that regular season, a career-best. In the 2021-22 season, Herro was unavailable for critical games against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals. He played 66 games in the regular season that year. Herro played in all five playoff games this season but was available for only 42 regular season games, a career-worst.

Being available has become an issue for the Heat, especially for Herro. It is an issue that Riley has pointed out and wants to see some accountability for. Injuries happen and there is almost no way to prevent them from happening entirely. What Herro can do is make sure he is in the best shape possible heading into the season. This will reduce the likelihood of suffering an injury throughout the season and reduce the recovery time if he does suffer an injury.
