Not the most compelling deal for either side but if everything else falls through it could help solve some short-term problems.

Let’s start with the Spurs, who are in the market for a point guard to help run the offense and, more pointedly, get Victor Wembanyama the ball. Tre Jones and San Antonio’s other options have fallen short. Lowry, at least, could do that.

The Spurs are reportedly interested in reuniting with Dejounte Murray but those talks haven’t progressed, according to reports. If nothing materializes there, Lowry can be a band-aid solution.

For the Heat, Jones can be a depth piece at the position but wouldn’t start. This would free up the Heat to go to a point-guardless lineup that would tilt to more size and scoring. McDermott is shooting better than 45% on 3s this season and could help space the floor around Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in certain lineups.
