2. OG Anunoby

The Heat should avoid OG Anunoby this summer. Anunoby is considered likely to re-sign with the New York Knicks, especially after the Knicks parted ways with some core guys to bring in the two-way forward before the trade deadline. However, it was recently reported that Anunoby will test the free agent market this summer. For a Heat team that has historically struggled to stay healthy over the years, the last thing they need is another injury-prone player. Anunoby appeared in just 50 of their 82 regular season games this year, along with missing time in the playoffs.

In the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons, he played in 43 and 48 games, respectively. Even with all the injuries considered, he averaged just 14.1 points this season and averaged 12.0 points for his career. Anunoby’s impact goes beyond just the box score numbers. He brings All-NBA level defense and size to the wing positions, along with shooting efficiency. This is also a proven champion, back with the 2019 Toronto Raptors. Anunoby could help virtually every team, but for a Heat team wanting to improve their scoring and mend their injury issues, this may not be that move. The Heat don’t have the cap space to sign Anunoby as a free agent, but they avoid players with an injury history like him anyway. – Daniel Riccio
