5 Stars the Miami Heat missed drafting by a single pick

The NBA draft is a pivotal part of each NBA offseason. The Miami Heat have made several homerun draft picks, but there have also been some blunders.

Here comes the more painful ones: the Heat drafted Justise Winslow at 10th overall over Devin Booker during the 2015 NBA draft. Booker was selected by Phoenix just three picks after Winslow. Miami was truly that close to selecting a franchise-altering talent.

Winslow showed flashes of strong two-way capabilities during his Heat tenure. Everybody remembers the “Point Justise” era in 2019. Unfortunately, he couldn’t stay healthy and was traded during the 2019-2020 season, the first season of the Jimmy Butler era.

Instead, Booker has turned into an All-NBA talent and superstar in this league. Booker is a four-time NBA All-Star and coming offseason averages of 27.1 points, 6.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds on 49% shooting. Imagine if Butler and this Heat team had the services of Booker and his prolific scoring abilities.
