4. Terrence Shannon Jr., forward, Illinois
Shannon is a two-way wing and explosive athlete who is moving up draft boards after his recent legal matters were settled with a not guilt ruling earlier this month.
Although he is one of the oldest prospects in his class, scouts are impressed by his improvement over his five-year college career. He averaged 23 points, 4 rebounds and 2.3 assists for Illinois last season.
In the NBA, Shannon will thrive in transition. He’s lightning quick in the open court and will be a weapon on the break. In the halfcourt, he will be utlized as a cutter and has a quick first step to attack closeouts. Because of his length, speed and secondary shot-making, Shannon gets compared to Kelly Oubre Jr.
At 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-8 wingspan, Shannon has the size and competitive will to defend multiple positions.
In Miami, Shannon could play a role similar to Caleb Martin, who is expected to opt out of his contract and become a free agent this summer.
