Team USA has yet to show their full potential, but against Germany they showed signs of how dominant they could be if they string together stops.
Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo and the other players on Team USA defeated Germany in their final exhibition game, winning 92-88. This was an important game for Team USA to win, as they were defeated by Germany last year in the FIBA World Cup.
Unlike their previous victory against South Sudan, Team USA started off strong in the first half, outsourcing Germany by 10 in the first quarter and leading by seven at halftime. Their third quarter was not as strong. Germany brought more energy and started knocking down several shots to take the lead in the third quarter. Team USA ultimately won because of timely stops and a few heroic plays by LeBron James.
Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo helped anchor Team USA's defense in their final tune-up before the Olympics begin.
Team USA recorded seven blocks in this game, one of which was a block by Bam. Many of these blocks led to baskets on the other end.
Once again, the frontcourt duo of Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis has proven to be a difference maker. Without a defensive three second violation rule in the Olympics, one of both of them can sit in the paint and protect the rim. Team USA will have more size than most teams competing in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The absence of this rule will give them a massive advantage defensively.
Along with his block, Adebayo also added four points and six rebounds in fourteen minutes. Team USA will begin its group stage matches against Serbia on July 28. The team will need Bam to continue to be impactful off the bench if they want to win the gold medal this year.
