Jimmy Butler vs Nets
In the month of November, the Miami Heat put together their best stretch of basketball with a season-best seven-game winning streak and winning nine out of ten games after starting the season 1-4. During that time, Jimmy Butler put on an absolute clinic, scoring 36 points on a very efficient 12-for-19 shooting performance in a 122-115 victory against the Brooklyn Nets.
Butler had other high scoring outputs such as scoring 37 against the Utah Jazz in March, but what made this performance stick out was the way Butler got to his spots and scored with ease against the Nets who have wings to throw at Butler such as Mikal Bridges and Dorian Finney-Smith.
This was a textbook Butler game as he punished mismatches in the post and attacked the basket with ferocity when someone such as Lonnie Walker IV and Spencer Dinwiddie was on him. Butler also made some very effective closeouts on jump shots and finished with a season-high three blocks.
Butler has shown on multiple occasions that he can take over a game on both ends of the court when locked in and healthy, and it would be great if Butler can play more regular season games next season and avoid injury so more of these performances can be duplicated.
