Miami Heat add 2 players to training camp roster

The Miami Heat have added a familiar name to its training camp roster.

According to Hoopshype NBA insider Michael Scotto, the Heat have signed center Malik Williams to an Exhibit 10 contract, which amounts to a training camp invite. 

Williams, 26, is the third player the Heat have signed to an Exhibit 10 contract ahead of training camp in the Bahamas, joining guards Isaiah Stevens and Zyon Pullin. Heat training camp begins Oct. 1.

In 42 games with the Heat’s G-League affiliate in Sioux Falls last season, Williams averaged 10.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.5 minutes. He shot 42.6% overall, including 31.1% on 2.8 3-point attempts per game.

Williams then signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Toronto Raptors, where he appeared in seven games.

At 6-foot-10, 250 pounds, Williams tallied double-digit rebounds in 14 games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce last season, including a 21-rebound outing against the Oklahoma City Blue.

The Heat also signed guard Bryson Warren to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Warren appeared in 17 regular season games with the Skyforce last season and averaged 7.8 points, 1.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 19.6 minutes. He scored in double-figures seven times, including a season-high 21 points at the South Bay Lakers in February.

The season prior, Warren appeared in 22 games with Overtime Elite and averaged 14.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.6 steals. Warren also appeared in three Summer League games with the Heat, two in San Francisco's California Classic and one in Las Vegas.

The Heat have the maximum of 21 players on the roster heading into training camp, including 14 on standard contracts, three two-way players and four on Exhibit 10 contracts. The Heat must cut the roster to 18 (15 standard contracts, three two-way contracts) before the start of the regular season.
