The Miami Heat’s G League affiliate picked up a former first-round pick that the organization hopes can rekindle his career as part of their development system.

The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced Sunday the team has acquired guard Josh Christopher off waivers. The 24th pick in the 2021 draft by the Houston Rockets, Christopher is an athletic guard whose acquisition adds to an impressive Skyforce team.

Christopher, a 6-4 215-pound guard out of Arizona State, spent two seasons with the Rockets and averaged 6.9 points on 45.5% shooting in 138 appearances. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, who waived him, before signing a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz last season.

He appeared in 19 G League games for the Salt Lake City Stars as a part of his two-way contract and averaged 17.9 points on 46.8% shooting, 4.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.7 steals in 29.1 minutes a game.

The team announced that Christopher is expected to be available for Monday’s game at the Texas Legends.
