Tyler Herro

Contract: Three years remaining at $29 million next season, $31 million in 2025-26 and $33 million in 2026-27.

Age: 24

Another summer, another round of trade rumors for Tyler Herro.

The Heat are seemingly connected to almost every star that could be traded this summer, and Herro is most often the player at the center of those deals.

This summer feels a bit different. After Herro failed to lift Miami’s offense as the no. 1 option in the first round of the playoffs, the Heat may have concluded that he isn’t a no. 1 scoring option on a title-contending offense.

That’s OK! Herro has proven to be a 20-point scorer and one of the best sixth men in the league. If that’s his career, it’s a good one. But it might be time for both sides to split.

If the Heat trade for a star such as Donovan Mitchell, Herro will almost certainly be part of the outgoing package given his talent and salary. But if the Heat can’t trade for a star, they could still decide to move Herro for salary-cap relief and multiple contributors.

For as much as Herro is appreciated by a segment of the fanbase, players so consistently involved in trade rumors tend to get traded eventually.

Prediction for when Herro leaves: Summer of 2023
