Stephen A. Smith takes aim at Heat player who needs to step up
Why he’s right
There is no doubt about Herro’s natural talent and abilities on offense. The way that he can create for himself and others and shoot the ball at a respectable clip provides the Heat with a legitimate asset across their lineups. Herro won the league’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022 and has averaged over 20 points each of his last three seasons.
With Butler’s postseason heroics and Bam Adebayo cementing himself across the league as an NBA All-Star, that duo cannot do it alone. Having that third piece in Herro provides some much needed help and depth within the team’s scoring. Heat fans have seen just how much better the team looks offensively with the polarizing guard at his best.
Herro is also never afraid of the big moment. He has stepped up in the clutch with huge buckets throughout his career, both in the regular season and playoffs. It gives Miami another go-to option if opposing teams plan on taking the ball out of Butler’s hand down the stretch.
