Soon after it was reported that Terry Rozier has avoided serious injury and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, the new Miami Heat point guard posted a message on Instagram that should come as a relief to Heat fans.
Shortly after the news broke, Rozier posted a picture of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine to his Instagram stories, suggesting that he is indestructible and avoided a major injury.
This is great news for the Heat, especially given how serious the injury looked at the time. Rozier suffered the injury after taking a hard fall on a drive to basket in Sunday’s loss to the Boston Celtics. Trainers, coaches and players huddled around him as he writhed in pain before eventually walking to the locker room with the help of two Heat trainers.
Terry Rozier suggested he is like Wolverine when it comes to recovering from injuries, which would be great news for the Miami Heat if true.
Rozier underwent an MRI on Monday that confirmed the worst possible news was avoided. Josh Richardson will also miss multiple weeks after dislocating his right shoulder in the same game.
The Heat are listing Rozier as “week to week” with a right knee sprain. Fortunately for the Heat, the All-Star break should provide some relief without games. It’s unclear when Rozier will return, but it should be at some point this season.
Since being acquired last month in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a future first-round pick, Rozier has slowly found his footing as the Heat’s starting point guard.
Rozier had been averaging more than 30 minutes per game and started in his last nine games before the injury. He averaged 12.6 points and 5.6 assists in his first 10 games in a Heat uniform and had scored at least 13 points in each of his last fives games before exiting Sunday’s game against Boston in the third quarter.
